Drivers Tried To Warn This Man That Something Was Wrong, But It Was Too Late

As people have proven time and time again, it’s difficult enough to maneuver an ordinary car or truck, let alone something crazy like an 18-wheeler or dump truck.

And human carelessness certainly doesn't make that any better. An oblivious dump truck driver was speeding along Houston’s East Loop Freeway when the bed lifted up. As nearby drivers tried their best to warn the guy behind the wheel, there was no stopping him as he barreled toward a low-hanging highway sign.

In the blink of an eye, the dump truck collides with the overhead sign, causing it to flip over in its lane while the sky rains scrap metal.

Here's a similar collision from 2015. Yikes.

This video was taken on a busy highway in Saudi Arabia. Come on, people!

Hopefully the driver of the dump truck made it out safely. I'm sure that left everyone nearby rattled to say the least.

If Your Teen Has ADHD And Is Starting To Drive, Here's What You Should Know

Most parents worry about their kids getting into accidents when they begin driving, and it isn't hard to see why.

Not much experience behind the wheel coupled with the temptation of texting and driving is enough to convince any parent to make their teens wait a few extra years to get their licenses. But according to a new study published in JAMA Pediatrics, adolescents and young adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), a chronic condition that causes attention difficulty, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness, are even more at risk of getting into a crash.
For the study, the authors looked at 18,500 electronic health records for young people, almost 2,500 of whom who had ADHD, from six New Jersey primary care practices that are part of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia network. Those records were linked to statewide driver licensing and crash databases from 2004 to 2014.

What they found was that adolescents with ADHD are 36 percent more likely than other adolescent drivers to get into a car accident. Because of the nature of ADHD, they are at a greater risk of driving distracted, including talking on the phone, texting, eating, drinking, or adjusting the stereo.

Young drivers with ADHD were also found to receive their licenses less often and are more likely to get them at an older age. According to the study, only 12 of the subjects with ADHD were medicated in the 30 days before they received their license despite an earlier study's findings that those who are medicated have a much lower rate of getting into car accidents.

"The first stage is to make sure the youth has sufficiently strong communication skills, problem-solving skills, decision-making ability, judgment and level of responsibility, in order to advance to the learning-to-drive stage," said psychologist Thomas Power, co-author of the study and the director of the Center for Management of ADHD at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He also says that working with a driving rehab specialist may help as well.

Having ADHD doesn't mean you're a bad driver, but it's definitely important to make sure you're doing what you can to be safe on the road. Be sure to share this information with all the parents in your life.

Many Say Out-Of-Body Experiences Are A Hoax, But Did Science Prove Them Wrong?

Have you ever woken up and felt as if you were floating outside of your own body?

Many who've reported having these types of experiences believe they're caused by spiritual or even paranormal forces, while others think they're completely faked. But according to a new study by the Aix-Marseille Université in France, out-of-body experiences (OBE) are linked to a perfectly explainable physical issue.

Neuroscientist Christophe Lopez and other researchers compared two sets of 210 patients matched by the same ages and genders. One set had a history of dizziness, while the other did not.

About 14 percent of those who did suffer from dizziness reported having out-of-body experiences. As one stated, it felt "like I'm outside of myself. I feel like I'm not in myself.” Only five percent of those who didn't experience dizziness reported OBEs.

The study also found that most of those who had dizziness and a history of OBE had experienced OBEs only after they started having dizziness for the first time. Many of those subjects had also been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, depersonalization, or migraines.

The study also found that most of those who had dizziness and a history of OBE had experienced OBEs only after they started having dizziness for the first time. Many of those subjects had also been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, depersonalization, or migraines.

According to the researchers, "OBE in patients with dizziness were mainly related to peripheral vestibular disorders," or inner ear issues that affect the ability to process sensory information and control balance and eye movements. This type of damage to the ears can result in dizziness, vertigo, floating sensations, and lightheadedness.

This type of damage to the ears can result in dizziness, vertigo, floating sensations, and lightheadedness.

It's important to mention that the researchers found a correlated relationship between dizziness and OBE rather than a causal relationship, but the correlation is definitely worth looking into.

First Responders Are Doing Great Work In Texas. This Might Be Their Best Rescue Yet.

Over the past weekend, Hurricane Harvey hit Texas hard, causing catastrophic flooding in the in southeastern parts of the state.

First responders have been and are doing everything they can to save those affected by the tropical storm, including moving the most helpless out of harm's way. On August 24 and 25, flight crews worked for 18 hours, including through the night, to transport 10 newborns in neonatal intensive care from Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi to Cook Children's in Fort Worth.

Officials say all of the babies are critically ill, which makes them especially vulnerable to Hurricane Harvey's devastation. Thanks to the heroes below, however, all of the infants were evacuated to safety on four different planes.

Watch The Heartbreaking Moment A Mother Confronts The Man Who Killed Her Son

Dealing with the loss of your child is horrible enough without having to come face-to-face with the person responsible with their death. Worse still is when your child's killer is his own father.

Grieving mother Ana Estevez broke down in tears while in court speaking out against her ex-husband, Aramazd Andressian Sr., following the murder of their five-year-old son. Aramazd Andressian Jr. was murdered by his father as an act of revenge in order to get back at his estranged wife. The boy was last seen alive while leaving Disneyland with his dad back in April.

On the day his son was first reported missing, Andressian Sr. was found passed out in his car after it had been doused in gasoline. At that time he claimed to be unaware of his child’s whereabouts and was quickly released by police.

This absolutely breaks my heart. While I'm sure this heartbroken mother is happy that justice has been served, we cannot imagine the turmoil she'll still have to face every day. We send all of our love to her.

You've Seen These Wild Cats Before, But Did You Know They Sound Like Dogs?

We're all pretty familiar with big cats like lions and tigers.

They're just like our small kitties, except instead of a meow they've got a powerful roar. The bobcat and the lynx are sort of the medium-sized cats of the world, and they don't get a lot of attention. They can be reclusive and hard to find. If you're expecting them to sound like the cats we're used to, however, you'd be dead wrong.

This wildlife foundation caught rare footage of a Canada lynx making noises, and they might remind you of another kind of pet.

Wow! Who knew? I love seeing these amazing creatures in their natural habitat.

These People Formed A Human Chain Along The Shoreline To Do Something Incredible

While rescuing a stray dog or cat off the street can seem like a small gesture of kindness that anyone can do on their own, when it comes to rescuing much large animals, sometimes it takes an army to help save the day.

So when a baby whale weighing more than seven tons found itself washed ashore along a beach in Brazil, more than 300 volunteers came to lend a helping hand. The poor whale was discovered in the early afternoon by residents of Armaçao dos Buzios, a resort town outside Rio de Janeiro. As the whale’s chances of survival grew slimmer, more and more people reached out to help.

A human chain of people passing buckets of water to keep the whale alive.

A trench was also dug to help the animal make its way back to sea.

However, when none of these rescue efforts worked out, it was the whale’s own determination to push itself further out to sea that eventually led the animal back to safety.

Hundreds of people could be heard in the water and along the shoreline cheering on their rescue efforts, knowing that they helped play a part in reuniting the whale with the sea.

It just goes to show that perseverance is key. Kudos to these volunteers for never giving up until their whale rescue was a success.

Bikers rescue dog on highway

Bikers have a bad reputation, what with their tough exteriors and permanently messy hair, but those who ride also have a softer side. Take this video, uploaded yesterday to YouTube by user Prince Henry, of a group of motorcyclists stopping traffic on the freeway to help a scared dog.

The gang of eight bikers block four lanes of traffic while scampering after the lost and scared pooch. It takes them a minute, but they eventually grab the little guy. Either you're touched by their heroism or annoyed for the drivers sitting in traffic, depending on you're opinion of dogs.
Unless you have a gang of your friends around, stopping on a busy road to help out animals is a bad idea. Last year, a woman in Canada caused the deaths of a father and daughter after she stopped to corral some baby ducks off of the side of the road. A dad driving a motorcycle couldn't stop in time and struck her car head on going between 65 and 70, killing himself and his daughter instantly. The animal-lover served 90-days in jail for criminal negligence and had her license suspended for 10 years.

Police dashcam captures NJ home detonating due to gas leak

A police dashcam in Stafford Township, NJ, captured some explosive footage recently when a gas leak caused a home under renovation to blast high into the air. Firefighters and gas company employees were also already on the scene evacuating homes nearby and trying to find the source of the problem when the detonation occurred.

Fifteen people were injured in the blast. Two gas company workers who were just 20 feet away at the time were critically injured, according to The Associated Press. All but one of those harmed had left the hospital by that evening. "It knocked you off your feet, a shockwave, the concussion of it. It's something I never want to experience again," said Fire Chief Jack Johnson, who was just 50 feet away when the explosion. Nearby houses were also damaged by debris.

The blast occurred about an hour and a half after police received the first call of the leaking gas smell. The video of the incident is shocking in the way that it goes from serene residential scene to utter chaos in just a split second.

Secrets the cast of Naked and Afraid let slip

On Discovery's hit survival reality series Naked and Afraid, two naked strangers are dropped off in the wilderness and challenged to survive for three weeks. The official description of the show claims that "Each duo will be left high and dry with no food, no water…and no clothes. They must survive on their own for a full 21 days, with nothing but one personal item each and the knowledge that the only prize is their pride and sense of accomplishment." Despite this description, several leaks and interviews with former contestants have called into question the actual amount of "reality" that's included in this reality show. Let's take a look at some of the most damning evidence that Naked and Afraid is completely fake.

Iowa State Fair cow and boy taking nap wins the internet after photo goes viral

They may not have won a ribbon at the Iowa State Fair, but Mitchell Miner and his heifer Audri won the internet after a photo of them taking a nap together went viral.
"She likes to lay down quite a bit," Miner told the Des Moines Register on Monday. "I don't really understand the bond with my animal either. She just enjoys my company."

Miner, 15, of Williamsburg, Iowa and Audri entered the Iowa State Fair's youth dairy cattle show. They prepared for weeks with Miner leading, clipping, walking and bathing Audri nonstop up to the competition. On the day of the show, Miner woke up at 3 a.m. — his third straight early-morning rise — putting the final touches on Audri.
The heifer ended up placing fifth out of seven contestants, but after hard-fought competition, the two took a nap together. Miner’s father, Jeremey snapped a few photos of the two and posted them on Facebook the next day.
By early afternoon, the photo racked up over 15,000 interactions and nearly 800 shares.
"I was asleep. I think she was, too," Mitchell said to the Register.
Miner's mother, Laura, told the newspaper that she believes people are usually won over when they see a bond between a kid and their animal.
"I think it's just when you spend that much time with them, they get really comfortable with you," she said.
Laura Miner added that the family borrows most of these animals for the summer. Audri will be heading back to a dairy farm in Blairstown later this fall — after the family's final showing in September.
